Don Juan Tenorio
"Don Juan Tenorio" Brought To You By The Hispanic Society of the Arts
A group of Latin actors, directors and producers living in Los Angeles California, has decided to make the classic and contemporary literary plays of the most celebrated Hispanic writers, available to the Latin community. The group is The Hispanic Society of the Arts, a non-profit organization, dedicated to promote the richness of the Spanish language with brilliant theater plays.
Don Juan Tenorio, recognized as one of the most successful theater plays in Latin America, has been chosen to open this promising theater season. In order to attract the theater fan, as well as the adolescent who is barely starting to know his roots, the theater play, originally written by Jose Zorrilla in 1844, has been adapted by the writer and comedian Mario Ramirez. The comedian explained that the comic adaptation he made is to trigger the interest of people who have never witness this kind of theater before, and make them become interested in it, while they discover its value in a very entertaining way. In order to do this, the writer has added to the original text, phrases that will sound very familiar to the audience. For example, instead of talking about "hills filled with flowers" like the original Tenorio, we speak about hills filled with immigration officers. In this way, we update a century old play without losing the magic of its original form. Our goal is to appeal not only to Hispanics born in any country of Latin America, but also to attract the one that is born in the United Stated and is ready to feel proud of being a Latino.
Several Hispanic actors have come together to make this ambitious project a reality, among them is Mario Ramirez, Jackie Torres, Maria Isabel Aguilera, Roberto Zapien, Tony Farias, Eddie Hidalgo, and Lucio Arroyo. The play has toured several cities of Los Angeles.

The Comedy of Errors
by William Shakespeare
The Comedy of Errors is one of William Shakespeare's earliest plays, believed to have been written between 1589 and 1594. It is his shortest and one of his most farcical, with a major part of the humour coming from slapstick and mistaken identity, in addition to puns and wordplay. The Comedy of Errors (along with The Tempest) is one of only two of Shakespeare's plays to observe the classical unities. It has been adapted for opera, stage, screen and musical theatre.
